Selected group of expert small business owners leads on strategies to address big issues facing California entrepreneurs 

SACRAMENTO, CALIF. – This summer, Small Business Majority nominated eleven small business owners and entrepreneurs from around California to serve on its California Small Business Council. The council comprises job creators from various industries who have volunteered their time and entrepreneurial expertise to advocate for the true needs of small businesses across the state.

Poll finds a quarter of small business owners received no capital during the pandemic, and a third cite a lack of awareness

Washington, D.C. - Today, Small Business Majority and Start Small Think Big released a new survey revealing 26% of small businesses did not obtain capital during the pandemic, despite 64% citing lack of capital as a barrier they encountered when making changes to maintain their business.

“On September 30, Governor Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill 951 (SB 951), historic legislation that brings greater equity to California’s Paid Family Leave (PFL) and State Disability Insurance (SDI) programs. We applaud the governor’s efforts to improve policies that allow small business owners and their employees to take the time they need to care for a family member, regardless of their income.

Small business owners stand to benefit from the law that will create greater healthcare affordability and level playing field on taxes

Washington, DC - Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 (IRA), which includes robust investments important to boosting the small business ecosystem, particularly affordable healthcare and clean energy. It also includes significant provisions to improve equity in our tax system while reducing the deficit. We look forward to the president quickly signing this legislation into law.
