Statement by John Arensmeyer, Founder & CEO of Small Business Majority, on today̢??‰?s passage by the U.S. House of Representatives of the Tax Increase Prevention Act of 2014̢??‰۝legislation that would give a retroactive, one-year extension for some small business-friendly tax credits that expired at the end of 2013

The U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation today that gives a retroactive, one-year extension of tax credits that expired at the end of 2013, such as the wind production tax credit and Section 179 provision, which will provide some much-needed relief for small businesses that rely on them. While this short-term fix is a step in the right direction, we need a long-term extension of tax credits that are vital to small businesses, as well as action on tax provisions that are expiring this year.

CHICAGO̢??‰۝Illinois small business owners and their employees soon will have more options available to help save and prepare for retirement. The state legislature passed a bill today that would make it easier for small businesses to establish basic retirement plans for their employees, without any additional cost to the business.
