Statement by David Chase, California Director for Small Business Majority, on California Governor̢??‰?s veto of legislation that would have helped protect owners of small business franchises

We are extremely disappointed in the Governor̢??‰?s decision to veto a bill that would have leveled the playing field for small businesses. This important legislation, SB 610, would have helped protect our state̢??‰?s small business franchise owners from unfair predatory practices by large out-of-state franchisors during contact negotiations.

Statement by John Arensmeyer, Founder & CEO of Small Business Majority, on the Securities and Exchange Commission̢??‰?s delay in finalizing crowdfunding regulations

The Securities and Exchange Commission recently indicated they are waiting on further congressional action before finalizing regulations on crowdfunding, but the SEC needs to act on this now to expand access to capital for small businesses. The Jumpstart Our Business Startups Act was signed into law more than two years ago to help address business̢??‰? lack of access to capital, yet the SEC continues to delay finalizing rules for crowdfunding that were included in the law.

Washington, DC̢??‰۝Small Business Majority, with Springdale Job Corps as a featured presenter, will launch a webinar series as part of Small Business Majority̢??‰?s national sign-on campaign asking small employers to pledge to create professional opportunities for young people to help bridge the gap between youth who are out of school and out of work, and small businesses having a hard time filling entry-level positions.
