Poll reveals entrepreneurs think Congress is doing a ̢???poor job̢???? moving nominees through the confirmation process

Washington, DC̢??‰۝A scientific opinion poll released today shows entrepreneurs support the Environmental Protection Agency regulating carbon emissions and support the president̢??‰?s nominee to head the agency, Gina McCarthy. The poll also revealed a majority of small business owners believe Congress is doing a poor job confirming presidential nominees and think nominees deserve timely up or down votes.

Entrepreneurs say increased minimum wage will boost consumer spending, alleviate pressure on government assistance programs

Washington, DC̢??‰۝A scientific opinion poll released today shows entrepreneurs strongly support increasing the minimum wage because it will enhance consumer spending, which can increase the demand for small firms̢??‰? goods and services and boost their businesses̢??‰? bottom lines while strengthening the economy. The poll also revealed the majority of small business owners agree raising the minimum wage will allow low-income workers to more easily support themselves, relieving pressure on taxpayer-financed government assistance programs.

The Senate̢??‰?s ̢???Gang of Eight̢???? introduced bipartisan immigration legislation today that targets key problems within our broken immigration system, many of which, if fixed, would significantly boost our economy and small businesses. While not perfect, the bill is chock full of provisions small businesses strongly support and believe would help their companies compete in our global economy.

Statement by John Arensmeyer, Founder & CEO of Small Business Majority, in response to President Obama̢??‰?s proposed budget. Blueprint largely positive for small businesses, however entrepreneurs don̢??‰?t want cuts to Social Security in final budget deal as a way to lower the deficit.

The president̢??‰?s 2014 budget blueprint includes key provisions small businesses support and have long been asking for, such as closing tax loopholes that benefit the wealthy and large corporations, reducing corporate tax rates in a revenue-neutral manner, offering tax credits for small business hiring, and creating manufacturing, infrastructure and clean energy initiatives that can provide small businesses with economic opportunities and encourage job growth.

The Colorado Health Benefit Exchange announced Wednesday that it will move full speed ahead implementing a critical health law provision for small businesses in 2014 known as employee choice, which allows small business workers to choose from a number of plans from different insurance carriers. In the wake of the Department of Health and Human Services' proposal to possibly delay this feature in some exchanges until 2015, Colorado's decision to implement it on Day 1 of enrollment is a victory for the state's small businesses looking forward to robust marketplaces next year.
