Michigan Association for Female Entrepreneurs members gain access to critical business information and government officials, with opportunities to advocate for small business in Washington, D.C.

Redford, Mich.—Michigan Association for Female Entrepreneurs has joined Small Business Majority’s strategic partnership program—a network of more than 150 business organizations across the country working together to educate small business owners about national and state-level legislation and how it impacts their business.

Michigan Association for Female Entrepreneurs provides opportunities for female entrepreneurs, in both new development and growth stages of their business, to build their entrepreneurial capacity through educational programs focused on sustainable business growth and development.

Small Business Majority is a national small business advocacy organization, founded and run by small business owners to focus on the biggest problems facing small firms today.

“Michigan Association for Female Entrepreneurs is delighted to partner with Small Business Majority. It is important for us to partner with organizations that will provide our members with important information and updates on laws that impact small businesses,” said Tonya McNeal-Weary, Founder & Executive Director of Michigan Association for Female Entrepreneurs. “We look forward to working with Small Business Majority to provide our members with even more resources tailored to women entrepreneurs as well as critical information about the issues affecting them most, including healthcare, access to capital, retirement and more.”

Through Small Business Majority’s strategic partnership program, Michigan Association for Female Entrepreneurs members will be able to participate in a host of events, including briefings with policy experts and free educational seminars.

Small Business Majority is focused on helping underserved small businesses, particularly those owned by women and persons of color. Women are starting small businesses at a higher rate than men, and their businesses are generating jobs and business revenues above the national average. And women of color are creating businesses faster than the rest of the population: Seventy-nine percent of businesses started by women since 2007 were started by women of color. Supporting female entrepreneurs, especially women of color, has the potential to unlock tremendous growth for our communities.

To help support these entrepreneurs, Small Business Majority recently launched its Women’s Entrepreneurship Program, which will help women business owners gain the resources they need to start and grow their companies. As part of this program, Small Business Majority is providing in-person events and online resources for women.

“We’re thrilled to have Michigan Association for Female Entrepreneurs join our strategic partnership program,” said Geraldine Sanchez Aglipay, National Women’s Entrepreneurship Manager for Small Business Majority. “We look forward to working with the organization and its members to continue to help women entrepreneurs make their voices heard from the Main Streets of America to the corridors of Capitol Hill.”
