Now that the confirmation of Richard Cordray as director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has been voted out of committee, we strongly urge lawmakers to allow the process to proceed without delay. It is important that the agency is able to continue its work protecting small employers and consumers by reining in Wall Street banks and preventing abusive lending practices.

Los Angeles, CA̢??‰۝National small business advocacy organization Small Business Majority opened a new Los Angeles office this week, making it the organization̢??‰?s third location in California and ninth across the country. L.A. native Marcia D????valos, who grew up helping in her family̢??‰?s small business and who̢??‰?s had extensive experience working on policy issues important to Southern California small businesses, will head up the Sherman Oaks-based office.

The Department of Health and Human Services proposed a rule today to delay critical requirements for small business health insurance exchanges set to open next year. The proposed rule—which would stall requirements that exchanges allow employees to choose among multiple insurance carriers, and that exchanges provide a key administrative function known as "premium aggregation" that simplifies the payment process—is a major letdown for small business owners and their employees looking forward to robust, competitive exchanges in 2014. But it's not too late to fix it.

Entrepreneurs favor closing tax loopholes that give big corporations and hedge fund managers an unfair advantage to address our fiscal challenges and avoid sequester

Washington, DCA scientific opinion poll released today shows small businesses strongly oppose cutting Social Security and Medicare as part of a plan to reduce the deficit and prevent the "sequester" a host of across-the-board spending cuts set to begin March 1 because lawmakers haven't agreed on a deal to reduce the deficit by their self-imposed deadline.

On 20th anniversary, opinion polling by Small Business Majority reveals small employers overwhelmingly support the Family Medical Leave Act

Washington, DC̢??‰۝Two decades since the Family Medical Leave Act became the law of the land, scientific opinion polling released today shows small business owners strongly support the law, which allows eligible employees of covered employers a limited amount of unpaid, job-protected leave for specified family and medical reasons. The law went into effect on Feb. 5, 1993.
