Statement from John Arensmeyer, Founder & CEO of Small Business Majority, as the U.S. Senate moves forward with Isabel Guzman’s confirmation to become the new Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration

“We are pleased by today’s vote in the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship to advance the nomination of Isabel Guzman as the new Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). With her previous experience at the SBA and at California’s Office of the Small Business Advocate, Ms. Guzman has a proven track record as a champion for small businesses. This expertise is critical as we work to preserve the vitality of our nation’s economy, particularly as the pandemic continues to disproportionately affect business owners of color and the smallest businesses.

As the ongoing public health crisis continues to harm small businesses, the SBA’s role in preserving America’s entrepreneurial ecosystem has never been more important. Ms. Guzman’s steady leadership will be valuable in creating a solid pipeline to connect small business owners with the federal resources and tools they need to survive. We have worked closely with Ms. Guzman nationally and in California, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration with her during this critical time. Small businesses need a strong leader now, and we urge the full Senate to confirm her nomination swiftly.”
