Launch of New Website Will Help Small Businesses Connect to Information on the Healthcare Law

For Immediate Release:
Thursday, August 1, 2013

Statement from John Arensmeyer, Founder & CEO of Small Business Majority, on the launch of Business.USA.gov/healthcare, a comprehensive website where small employers can learn about the new healthcare law and how they can access affordable coverage

Major provisions of the new healthcare law will be coming online soon, which is why the administration̢??‰?s launch today of Business.USA.gov/healthcare, a resource for educational materials on how the healthcare law impacts businesses, is such good news. The website has informational content from many federal government agencies and will answer questions small employers have about the law and coverage options. The website also includes a customizable wizard tool that will allow small business owners to access the most pertinent information on the healthcare law based on their location, size and whether they currently offer coverage.

There is tremendous confusion around the new healthcare law. Opinion polling released by Small Business Majority found small employers don̢??‰?t know much about the law, but when they learn about its provisions they like what they hear. This resource will help educate them so they can make informed decisions about their insurance needs.

Implementation of the law, including the provision that everyone have health insurance, is mere months away. Resources like Business.USA.gov/healthcare are just what small business owners need to make smart, fiscally responsible choices that benefit their businesses, their employees and ultimately, our economy.

In preparation for the opening of the marketplaces and implementation of the law in 2014, Small Business Majority has also launched several resources to help educate small employers about how the healthcare law might affect them. We recently unveiled a Health Coverage Guide, an online resource that provides small business owners with objective, step-by-step information on how to navigate the healthcare market with the new healthcare law. Additionally, we are teaming up with the Small Business Administration on a weekly free webinar series to teach entrepreneurs what the healthcare law means for their business. Each week, SBA representatives will walk through the key aspects of the law so that small business owners can understand the facts and make the most informed decisions they can about providing health insurance for their employees.
