Statement by John Arensmeyer, Founder & CEO of Small Business Majority, on President Obama̢??‰?s nomination of Gina McCarthy to head EPA

The nomination of Gina McCarthy to head the Environmental Protection Agency is welcome news for small businesses, our economy and the environment.

During her time as assistant administrator at EPA̢??‰?s Office of Air and Radiation, McCarthy did great work around the Clean Air Act and supported standards to reduce previously unlimited greenhouse gas emissions. National opinion polling Small Business Majority released found a majority of small businesses support the EPA determining federal limits on power plants̢??‰? emissions of greenhouse gases, and believe government investments in clean energy have an important role in boosting our national economy and creating jobs.

McCarthy has consistently shown that she appreciates the link between ecological and financial interests. We hope her past work strengthening the economy and protecting the environment translates into her work as EPA administrator, and we look forward to working with her to protect small business interests.
